'Fabulous' - Shoppers praise Penney's for inclusion with Eid collection for Muslims
Penney's is being praised for launching its Eid Mubarak collection for Muslims living in Ireland during the celebrations.
Eid Mubarak is one of the biggest celebrations in the Islamic calendar as it marks the end of Ramadan. Muslim families and friend gather for Eid al-Fitr or 'festival of the breaking of the fast.'
An Eid collection is now available in some Irish Penney's stores with the brand's official social media accounts sharing images in recent days.
One Muslim follower commented: "Delighted to see. Thank you Penney's for thinking of us. It's exactly like Christmas jumpers and night suits but of course we wear the Pakistani fancy dresses on Eid day with fancy sandals, bangles, lots of makeup and very fancy silky dresses."
Another added: "I think this is fabulous. Well done Penney's, inclusion is everything." The post also attracted some negative and racist comments on Facebook.

Reacting to some of those negative comments on the Penney's post, one shopper said: "You all get mad at this, but everywhere we go abroad we expect the native people to speak English for us and have menus in English and so on. I think it’s nice we can have something for other religions in our shops."
A similar comment read: "These look gorgeous! Also, right around the corner from them you’ll find the cute My First Communion bedtime range. Penney’s is a business and is responding to demographics. They’re not forcing anything on anyone. You can still buy what you want and leave behind what you don’t."
