A life-changing amount of money has been raised for a six-month-old baby girl born with a serious heart condition.

On the 23rd of January, Effie became critically unwell and was diagnosed with a serious heart condition and since then her parents Charlene and Kieran’s world has been hospital rooms, machines, and moments of waiting that feel endless, according to the GoFundMe.

"Our beautiful Effie, is just six months old and already fighting a battle no child should ever have to face," The GoFundMe said.

The baby girl urgently needs specialist treatment in the UK with the possibility she may need a heart transplant in the future.

Recently, on February 24th, Effie and her parents faced "one of the biggest and most emotional days of Effie’s journey so far.

"She was transferred from Crumlin to Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. A specialist team travelled from Sweden to support her transfer and ensure she arrived safely. The care that went into getting Effie safely across countries is something we will never forget.

"It was a big and emotional day for everyone, but she travelled well and is now being cared for by the incredible team there.

"We are so grateful to the staff in Crumlin who looked after her and got her safely to this next stage, and to the team at Great Ormond Street for welcoming her.

There is still a long road ahead, but she is exactly where she needs to be right now," according to a recent update on Effie's GoFundMe.

Effie's parents Charlene and Kieran will need to leave home and their support networks behind to remain by Effie’s side every single day, face travel costs, long-term accommodation near the hospital, daily living expenses, and the emotional strain of balancing life between two countries.
The GoFundMe set up for Effie and her parents has raised over €30,000 from people all over Ireland showing their support and generosity.
The GoFundMe says that "right now, their only focus should be holding Effie’s little hand and helping her heal.
"Effie has already shown strength far beyond her tiny body. She is deeply loved, stronger than you could imagine, and surrounded by hope.
If you are in a position to donate, no matter how small, you will be helping lift financial stress from this family so they can focus entirely on Effie’s recovery. If you cannot donate, sharing this would mean the world".
