Nearly 3,200 people took part in the Very Pink Run in Support of Breast Cancer Ireland in Kilkenny on Sunday. The Castle Park turned every shade of pink as families, friends, seasoned runners and casual walkers came together for the annual event.
The fundraiser is now a firm fixture in the calendar for thousands around the world and has grown into a global movement with more that 110,000 participants across 40 counties.
The Kilkenny event followed similar Very Pink Runs in Dublin and Cork was attended by figures including rugby legend Shane Byrne, wellness advocate Chris Connolly of Get Better with Chris and Professor Arnie Hill, leading breast surgeon and Chairman of Breast Cancer Ireland along with Aisling Hurley, the charity's CEO.

Breast Cancer Ireland Very Pink Run events are a fun-filled, family focused and inclusive day out where everyone is welcome, with no upper or lower age limits. The live events are aimed at casual strollers, keen walkers, joggers and seasoned runners alike over a 5km or 10km distance. They offer a family festival style outing with music, games and children's entertainment.
The funds raised through this year's event will be channelled into two targeted areas by Breast Cancer Ireland, namely continued investment into research into metastatic disease progression to the brain and driving progression and speed of scientific discovery from research settings into international clinical trials.
