Slice of success for Kilkenny students at annual Bake Off

Winners from Graignamanagh, Callan and Kilkenny city schools

The standard across both competitions was exceptionally high, making the judging process both enjoyable and challenging.

The Junior Competition was judged by Dr. Aileen Murphy, lecturer in Home Economics in South East Technological University and programme lead for the BA (Hons) in Home Economics, alongside Deputy Principal Bridget Murphy.

First prize was awarded to Aoife Rattigan from Presentation De La Salle College, Bagenalstown. Second place went to Kate Webster Denny from Coláiste Abhainn Rí, Callan, while third place was claimed by Sebastian O’Neil from Christian Brothers College, Kilkenny.

The Senior Competition was judged by Deputy Principal Kathleen Burke, Dr. Aileen Murphy, and Joan from the Carlow Kilkenny Home Care Team. The judges remarked on the exceptionally high standard of entries and the creativity shown by students.

First prize was awarded to Megan Kinsella from Duiske College, Graignamanagh. Second prize went to Tom Carey from Coláiste Abhainn Rí, Callan, while third prize was awarded to Emma Carroll from Scoil Mhuire, Greenhill, Carrick-on-Suir.

This year’s event also continued its strong charitable focus. An impressive €365 was raised in aid of the Carlow Kilkenny Home Care Team.
The Carlow Kilkenny ATHE thanks the generous sponsors who provided fantastic prizes for students.
