Pictures: Kells Kings sportive - cyclists take to Kilkenny roads

The inclement weather couldn’t stand in the way of Kilkenny’s cycling enthusiasts, last Saturday, as the popular Kells Kings Sportive returned to the events calendar.
After a pandemic-induced break, there was great enthusiasm for the cycle, with a great turnout arriving to Kells village to take part.
This was the tenth year of the event, which was launched in the company of Brian Cody and Evanne Ní Chuillin, earlier this summer.

An important partner in the event is Cois Nore Cancer Care Centre in Kilkenny.
“Kells Kings has always been a major fundraiser for Cois Nore and as always, the community in Kells is showing us wonderful support. We are sure this will be the best year yet,” said Bill Cuddihy, Chairperson of Cois Nore, on the launch day and he was proved right when he joined with organisers to send the cyclists off on the road, on Saturday morning.
Cyclists who took on the challenge of the 116km or 85km routes were very glad of the warm welcome they received when they crossed the finish line in Kells.
