The Old Church, Drumcong, Co. Leitrim, is going under the hammer with a guide price of €175,000. The inside has actually been converted and features seven bedrooms and five bathrooms.

This unique property has a total floor area of over c.8,200 sq. ft, and sits on a site area of 1.3 acres fronting to a public road, beside an R road.

It is situated in a quaint village, between three vibrant towns (Carrick on Shannon, Drumshanbo & Ballinamore). The sellers say the new owners will enjoy the best of both rural and town.

The listing continues: "This unique building was built in 1976 by the parish of Kiltubrid. This was the era of post Vatican II. It was a time when Catholic Ireland had an appetite for new churches and when parishioners dug deep to raise the money to build them.

"The style is modernist and is built in the shape of a cross with three wings off the main spine. The central portion is a very large and high space with ceiling heights in excess of 5 meters. Now featuring a central fireplace in hand crafted stone, it is a large space to congregate in and which might also be suitable for activities.

"Within this space is a large gallery to the front.

"On the three wings there are duplex residential spaces containing four units, two near completion and two under construction.

"Two of these spaces have been occupied. In total there is either in place or provision for 2 Kitchens, 7 Bedrooms and 5 Bathrooms. Each element of the property has a separate Eircode (4 in total) and there are three independent electricity supplies."

This property is being sold by online auction on January 22 at 12 Noon. The auction will be hosted on BIDNOW.ie.
