RIP: Mayor of Kilkenny pays tribute to man who 'made a positive difference'

The Mayor of Kilkenny, Cllr Andrew McGuinness has paid tribute to the late Monsignor Kieron Kennedy.

Msgr Kennedy (74) was the parish priest in Freshford since 2018. He passed away at home in the parochial house last week and was laid to rest yesterday (Monday) after his funeral mass in St Mary's Cathedral.

Cllr McGuinness described the late Monsignor as a 'fantastic advocat for housing and helping the most vulnerable'.

"He was a member of so many different committees and community groups and really made a positive difference in many peoples lives," he said.

Over his many years working in the community, Msgr Kennedy was a founding member of Kilkenny Support Services for the Elderly and a founding member and director of the Good Shepherd Centre and Tar Isteach Housing and Kilkenny Voluntary Housing Association.
