The annual ‘Agricultural Science Post Graduation Celebration and Awards Ceremony’ at UCC saw honours for a Kilkenny student.
The awards took place on the evening of Friday, December 12, in glorious surroundings of the UCC’s NW Council room.
On the night they celebrated and paid tribute to the class of 2025, and recognised the outstanding academic achievement of a number of individual members of the class - including Piltown’s Katelyn Walsh.
She took home three awards - the ‘Munster Agricultural Society Sustainable Agriculture Award’ for the best student in 2nd year module ‘Sustainable Feed Production,’ and was presented with a silver medal plus €250.
Katelyn was also presented with the MSD ‘Bovilis #ProtectTheFuture Award’ to best student in 4th year module AG4009 - Bovine Health, Behaviour and Welfare.
Her third award of the night was the ‘AIB Best Work Placement Award’ for which she received a silver medal plus €250.

In total 14 awards with a combined value of €7,750 were presented on the evening. Each award comprised a beautiful hand-crafted solid silver medal plus monetary prize.
The individual awards themselves reflect the breadth of opportunity within the industry as well as varied strengths and interests of students, as well as enabling Agricultural Science at UCC showcase its connectedness with individual stakeholders in the industry that it is proud to be associated with.
