University of Limerick won the Fitzgibbon Cup for a second year running last Friday night and there was a strong Kilkenny feel to the squad with three Noreside players part of the winning panel.

Killian Doyle (Emeralds) started at wing back while Eoghan Lyng (Rower Inistioge) and Adam O’Sullivan (John Lockes) were also on the bench as the winners got the better of Limerick city rivals Mary Immaculate College.

Mary I included former Kilkenny senior star Shane Walsh with the Tullaroan man scoring one point from play in the heavy defeat at GAA HQ.

UL ran out 4-31 to 3-21 winners in the windup and they were always in a degree of control with Jack Leahy (Cork), Fintan Fitzgerald (Limerick), Adam English (Limerick) and Jack O'Neill (Clare) grabbing the match-winning majors.
