Kilkenny athletic clubs to the fore at successful John Treacy Run

Members of the Kilkenny City Harriers club who took on the John Treacy 10 miler in Dungarvan.

The John Treacy Dungarvan 10 Miler brings together the ideal race combination of fun runners, joggers, club athletes and top class internationals who compete over the fast flat 10 mile course around the historic town of Dungarvan.

Classed as one of the biggest races in the South East each year it’s no surprise to see so many Kilkenny athletes running the course, with entries no different this year.

There were outstanding performances again/ Lauren Dermody (Castlecomer) was third in the senior women and fifth female overall in 59:27. Adele Walsh (St Senan’s) won her age category in a time of 1.03:23 and was 16th female home overall.

Sean Connery Kings River was the first male home from Kilkenny in an incredible time of 56:51 - he was 41st male home overall and ninth in the M040. The Kilkenny City Harriers women’s team of Leanne Butler, Nuala Fitzgibbon and Roseanna Knox won third place in the team event.

Congrats to all from Kilkenny who competed - over 100 athletes from 10 different athletics clubs were represented on the day.

Graig Rolling 5km/5Mile

Barrow Harriers once again held their annual Graig rolling 5mile and 5km run in conjunction with Highview Athletic in Graignamanagh. Thankfully, after the downpours during the week, the sun shone for the 200 athletes who competed in the timed races.

The first home overall in the five mile event was Kealey Tidesdale of Clonmel AC in 30:51. Second female home was Anne McEvoy in the Junior age in 33:55, with Ciara O’Regan following closely behind in 34:15. David Larkin was first Male home in 31:06 and second overall. Noel Selorm Adabblah was second home in 31:36, with Eugene O’Keeffe just behind in 31:51 for third.

Paddy Bowden of Nuenna was the first home in the 5km race in 18:51, with Dara Phelan Barrow Harriers next in second place in 20:37. Marin Kirwan was the third Male home in 20:42. Kate Larkin was the first home in the Women’s 5km in 22:27, Brid Farrell (Gowran) was second home in 23:16 with Rosie Fitzgerald third in 24:55.

Well done to everyone who took part across the 1k fun run, 5km and five mile races, and to Barrow Harriers for a great day of racing.
