Kilkenny is now under a Status Orange Weather Warning until midday as Storm Éowyn continues to cause difficult travelling conditions locally.
A number of homes, farms and businesses are without power due to Storm Éowyn which has hit unprecedented levels - surpassing the number impacted by the recent cold snap. In Kilkenny, over 11,000 homes are without power across the county.
ESB Networks says "extreme, damaging and destructive" winds associated with Storm Éowyn have continued to cause widespread and extensive damage to the electricity network across the country with over 715,000 homes, farms and businesses without power, as of 8am.
Members of the public can contact Kilkenny County Council’s Severe Weather Helpline on 056 7794145 from 8am to 5pm today, after which calls will be transferred to the Council’s Out of Hours Number 0818 399 399. Alternatively, you can email ecc@kilkennycoco.ie .
