LATEST: Renewed flooding fears for Kilkenny as new weather warning issued

Met Eireann have issued yet another weather warning for County Kilkenny.

A Status Yellow rain weather warning will be in operation from midnight on Thursday, January 28 to midnight on January, 29.

Met Eireann are warning of further heavy rain and showers falling on already saturated ground. Combined with high river levels there is a risk of localised flooding.

A spokesperson for Kilkenny County Council said: "Please avoid driving through flooded areas; turn back if in doubt. Allow extra travel time and reduce speed in heavy rain."

Meanwhile, the local authority has thanked their staff across the county for their response to Storm Chandra and 'keeping the public safe'.

"Your dedication and efforts are very much appreciated," they said.
