There's good news today for one Kilkenny flood-affected site, with approval for funding to better protect it.
Minister of State with responsibility for the Office of Public Works Kieran O’Donnell has announced the approval of Kilkenny County Council’s application for funding under the Office of Public Works’ Minor Flood Mitigation Works and Coastal Protection Scheme.

Under the scheme, the Office of Public Works (OPW) has approved funding of €78,453 for proposed works at Ardaloo, Jenkinstown.
It includes the construction of a flood wall around the perimeter of the property site, upgrading the existing wall, the supply and installation of a main flood gate, and associated ancillary works.
The Minor Flood Mitigation Works and Coastal Protection Scheme was introduced by the Office of Public Works in 2009. Since then, 18 funding applications by Kilkenny County Council have been supported under this scheme
