Kilkenny fundraiser to support trust that helped bereaved local family
Firefighters across Kilkenny will host fundraising car washes this Saturday in memory of Kyle Comerford and in support of the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust
Firefighters across Kilkenny are set to show their support for a charity that helped one of their own following a family tragedy abroad.
Stations across the county will host fundraising car washes on Saturday, May 30, in aid of the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust.
The fundraiser is being organised in memory of Kyle Comerford (son of Thomastown Chief Fire Officer Paul Comerford) who passed away in Dubai in January following a short illness.
The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust assists families in bringing loved ones home after deaths abroad and supported the Comerford family following Kyle’s passing.
Firefighters from stations around Kilkenny are now coming together to raise funds for the organisation in recognition of the support it provided during the family’s loss and the ongoing work that it does for other families.
Car wash locations confirmed include Graignamanagh (Fire Station), Urlingford (Fire Station), Freshford (Town Square), Castlecomer (Fire Station), Callan (SuperValu - in front of bus stop), Kilkenny City (Fire Station) and Thomastown (School of Food).
Following the announcement of his death earlier this year, tributes were paid to Mr Comerford from across the community.
Among them was Coláiste Cois Siúire in Mooncoin, where he previously completed his teaching placement.
In a statement, the school said that during his time there, he showed “great dedication, warmth, and enthusiasm for teaching,” leaving “a positive impression on both staff and students.”
