There has been a strong and positive reaction online to a recent statement issued by 'Abbey Take Away' in Ferrybank, County Kilkenny, after the business openly addressed customer feedback about its service.
In a candid social media post, the takeaway acknowledged that some customers had recently experienced issues with their food and service and explained that steps have already been taken to improve standards.
"Since the very beginning of Abbey Take Away, we’ve always tried to be open with you," the business posted.
"Recently we had a choice — to keep things to ourselves or to be honest with our loyal customers. We decided honesty is always the best policy.

"Over the past while, some of you received food that simply wasn’t up to the standard we expect — cold meals, long waits, and disappointing quality. For that, we are truly sorry. Hearing that was very upsetting for us, because this business means so much to our family."
The takeaway also revealed that changes have already been made behind the scenes.
"Because of this, we made some big changes behind the scenes. Three weeks ago our new chef joined the team, and the difference has been incredible.
"The food quality, organisation, service, and waiting times have improved massively, and we are so proud of what is now coming out of our kitchen."

The post also thanked loyal customers who continued to support the business and invited those who had a negative experience to give them another chance.
"To everyone who stayed loyal and continued supporting us — thank you from the bottom of our hearts. And to anyone who stopped coming because of a bad experience — we completely understand.
"All we ask is one more chance to welcome you back and prove that this time your food will be hot, fresh, and exactly how it should be.
"This is a fresh start for us, and we are determined to earn back your trust, one order at a time."
The honest and transparent message struck a chord with many followers, with many supportive comments posted in response.

Another commented: "It takes a lot to make this kind of apology, fair play to you for your honesty, and addressing issues that you saw. Continued success to you and your staff."

"Ye are doing a great job by having small businesses in our small community," one supporter said.
"We enjoy your food when we get it and it’s never easy starting off first but keep it going. You give so much to the Ferrybank community it’s a pleasure to give back. We have your back."
Perhaps one commenter summed up the overall sentiment best: "Lads, ye are just getting started and ironing out a few snags. What a great open attitude to show here in this post - taking constructive criticism on board is a win for everyone. We wish ye the very best."
