A four-year driving ban has been imposed on a motorist convicted of driving without insurance by Kilkenny District Court.
Robert James Hawe, 3 Manor House Apartments, Market Square, Bagenalstown, pleaded guilty to the charge.
Garda James Loughnane gave evidence in court that he stopped Mr Hawe on April 17, 2025, at Shankill, Paulstown, following an alert on the garda ANPR device that the vehicle he was driving was not taxed or insured.

When he was asked to produce his driving documents within 10 days, Mr Hawe admitted to the garda that he did not have insurance.
Mr Hawe had 22 previous convictions, including one for driving without insurance.
Solicitor Joe Farrell said his client thought he had been insured.
Judge Geraldine Carthy convicted Mr Hawe and handed down a fine of €400. He was also disqualified from driving for four years.
Recognisance was fixed in the event of an appeal.
