Dr. Peter Vaughan

The death has occurred of Dr Peter Vaughan F.F.A. R.C.S.I., Kilkenny and formerly of Rathgar, Dublin, and Tullamore, Co Offaly. Peter died on February 24, 2026, peacefully at home, with his beloved family, after a brave battle fought with great dignity and courage. Dearly loved, loving husband and best friend of Lyndy, devoted father of Andrew. Peter will be sadly missed by all his family; parents-in-law Hazel and Harry Meyer, brother Richard, sister Linda, sister-in-law, nieces, cousins and all his relatives, colleagues in the medical field and his wide circle of friends.

A service to celebrate his life will be held in St John’s Priory Church, John Street, Kilkenny (R95AW74) on Friday, February 27, at 12.30pm, followed by a private cremation at Mount Jerome Crematorium, Dublin. Family flowers only, please, but donations may be made to the Irish Cancer Society. House strictly private, please. Thomas (Tom) Purcell

The death has occurred of Thomas (Tom) Purcell, Power Villas, Piltown, Kilkenny, formerly of Sean McDermott Street, Dublin.1, on February, 22, 2026. Peacefully at his home; beloved brother of the late Liz and John. Tom will be sadly missed by his loving wife Jane, daughter Lisa, son Jonathan, cherished granddaughter Leyna, sister Catherine, extended family, neighbours and a large circle of friends.

Reposing at his home on Friday from 4pm until 8pm, for family and close friends. Removal on Saturday morning to The Church of the Assumption, Piltown, arriving for Funeral Mass at 10.30am followed by a Cremation Service at 2pm in Newlands Cross Crematorium, Dublin D24 K257. Josephine Harford

The death has occurred of Josephine Harford, Pairc Nua, Castlecomer Road and late of Old Sion Road and Middleknock, Dublin Road, Kilkenny. Josephine passed away (peacefully) on February 23, in St. Luke's Hospital. Beloved wife of the late James and loving mother of James, Josephine and Cecilia. She will be sadly missed by her son, daughters, grandchildren Niamh, Alex, Milly, Megan, Anne, Aidan, Sophie, Alan, Tommy and Samantha, great-grandchildren, great-greatgrandchildren, nephews, nieces, extended family and friends especially Henry.

Reposing at Hehir's Funeral Home (R95 FH90) from 4.30pm on Wednesday, February 25, with Funeral Prayers at 5.30pm followed by removal to St. John's Church. Requiem Mass on Thursday at 3pm followed by interment in St. Kieran's Cemetery. Josephine's Requiem Mass will be live streamed HERE

Esther Behal (née Roche)

The death has occurred of Esther Behal (née Roche), Dangan, Kilmacow, Co. Kilkenny, who died on Monday, February 23, 2026, aged 71 years, peacefully in the tender care of her loving family and all the staff at University Hospital Waterford. Predeceased by her parents Patrick and Margaret, brother Joe. Esther will be sadly missed by her loving husband Marcus, her beloved children Claudine, Leon, Killian and Aisling, sons-in-law Guillaume and Jonathan, grandchildren Ronan, Solène and Orla, sister Margaret, brother Jimmy, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Esther will be reposing in her home (X91 FX90) on Thursday, February 26, from 5pm concluding with prayers at 8pm, Esther's removal will take place on Friday, February 27, walking from her home to St. Senan's Church, Kilmacow, arriving for Requiem Mass at 11am, followed by private cremation: MASS LINK   DONATIONS LINK

James McDermott

The death has occurred of James McDermott, O'Loughlin Court, Kilkenny, and formerly of Cloney, Athy, Co. Kildare. James passed away on February 24, 2026, peacefully at Castlecomer District Hospital. Predeceased by his loving wife Anne (née Dewberry) and daughter Mary (Barry). Beloved father of Alex, Joe, Josephine and Jim. James will be dearly missed by his loving family, sons-in-law Patrick and Paul, daughters-in-law Sandra, Regina and Andrea, brothers and sisters, grandchildren and great grandchildren, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, kind neighbours and friends. The family would line to thank in a special way the nurses and staff at St. Luke's Hospital and Castlecomer Hospital for the kindness and care shown to James during his time with them.

Reposing in Johnston's Funeral Home, John's Green, Kilkenny (R95XE00) on Friday, February 27, from 5pm to 7pm with Prayers at 6.30pm. Requiem Mass on Saturday at 10.30am in St. John's Church. Funeral afterwards to St. Kieran's Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations, if desired, to the Friends of Castlecomer District Hospital. Donation box in Funeral Home and Church porch.
