Kilkenny GAA club claim children are 'at risk' due to irresponsible behaviour

Maintaining a pristine pitch isn't without its challenges and one Kilkenny GAA club is left continually cleaning up the mess.

An ongoing battle at sports facilities around the country, including John Locke Park, is dealing with dog dirt. It's disheartening to see dog owners letting their pets roam freely, allowing them to soil the playing fields.

The dangers of dog dirt are well-documented; it can cause infections and even blindness. John Locke Park hosts players of all ages, including children as young as six, who are at risk if they come into contact with contaminated areas.

It's imperative for dog owners to keep their pets on a lead and clean up after them to ensure the safety and hygiene of the playing surfaces. The commitment of the club to provide top-notch facilities is unwavering, and the cooperation of the community is vital in achieving this goal.

Just last month, Kilkenny Live spoke to a local mother who criticised the amount of dog fouling in Ballyhale village, expressing severe dissatisfaction at what is becoming an increasing issue in County Kilkenny. - READ MORE HERE

Meanwhile, St Patrick's GAA Club in Ballyragget, said the issue is causing 'hygiene concerns' for their club members and threatened to ban dogs if it continued.
