John Brennan (Fine Gael)
Entrenched in community service and civic duty, Cllr John Brennan’s political journey began in 1989, when the former Comerama worker was co-opted onto Kilkenny County Council to replace the late Tommy Coogan.
Over the years, Cllr Brennan has garnered increasing support with each subsequent election. Cllr Brennan was a proud chairman of Kilkenny County Council in 1996 and member of the Southern and Eastern Regional Assembly, serving as chairman in 2017. Cllr Brennan’s passion for community development shines through his involvement in numerous associations such as Castlecomer Town Development Association, Chairman of Castlecomer Enterprise Group, Vice Chairman of Colliery Christian Housing Association, Member of Clogh Tidy Towns Committee and Clogh Heritage Group.
“Sports also holds a very special place in my heart, with memberships in local clubs such as Clogh Handball Club, and Cloneen Hurling Club,” he said.
“I am family-oriented and dedicated to my wife, children and grandchildren, who are my pillars of strength. It has been great privilege to serve the people of North Kilkenny for the past 35 years. My commitment is unwavering - I stand by your side. If elected I will ensure that the Castlecomer Electoral Area is represented at the highest level in Kilkenny County Council,” added Cllr Brennan.
