Rewind: Bomb hoax on Kilkenny train leaves passengers' plans disrupted

From the Kilkenny People Archives (1969) - A practical joker who phoned the gardaí in Dublin and said he had planted a bomb on the Dublin-Kilkenny-Waterford train was responsible for the train being over an hour late into Kilkenny on Sunday night.

The train arrived in Kilkenny at 10pm while it usually arrives at 8.57 pm. It didn't reach Waterford until almost 11pm.

The train left Heuston station as usual at 7.05pm on Sunday but shortly afterwards it came to an unscheduled halt at Inchicore where passengers were asked to leave the train without their luggage.
