The crossroads and carpark at Kilnaspic, South Kilkenny
Kilnaspic, a small village nestled in the heart of South Kilkenny, is going old school with an upcoming céili event.
On Saturday, June 17, from 6pm to 9pm, locals and visitors alike will gather at the crossroads in Kilnaspic, Mooncoin, Co. Kilkenny for an evening filled with music, dancing, and community spirit.
The event, aptly named 'Craic at the Crossroads', is being organised by a team of volunteers and Kilnaspic Women's Shed, who have been tirelessly promoting the gathering.
With three meetings already held, over fifty individuals have joined forces to make this event a memorable one.
Spanning generations, participants range from talented musicians and crafters as young as eight to seasoned veterans at the age of 83.
The idea for 'Craic at the Crossroads' originated from Jim Hearn.
A plethora of exceptional local musicians will grace the stage, including Conor Doyle, Gerard Foran, Robbie and Deirdre Cody, Eamon and Pat, Jason Dunphy, The River Orchard Ukulele Players, Melody Makers Children's Group, and many more.
The céili dancers from Piltown and Clonmel, under the guidance of Maura Tynan, will provide captivating performances.
Caroline and Carmel have successfully secured 50 remarkable prizes for the raffle. Food stalls will offer a variety of delectable treats, including a homebaked cake stall and a mouthwatering spit roast.
Visitors can also enjoy organic apple juice from Eamon Wallace and savour the flavors of Ukrainian cuisine, introduced by Tanya and her friends.
Additionally, Ned's Breads, a young entrepreneur who found an opportunity during the pandemic to create and trade his own bread, will be present.
For more information about the event, the complete list of participants and activities can be viewed on the Kilnaspic Women's Shed Facebook page.
Through collaborative efforts, transparent communication, and the sharing of information, an atmosphere of magic and excitement has enveloped the project, demonstrating the power of working together from the ground up.
As the saying goes, "Many hands make light work."
So mark your calendars and join the residents of Kilnaspic as they celebrate their heritage and embrace the spirit of togetherness at the crossroads.
Come prepared to dance, revel in live music, enjoy delectable food, and connect with a vibrant community united in their love for craic, culture, and good fun.
