Flooding in Thomastown last week
Local pressure is mounting on the government to implement a long-awaited flood relief scheme.
Cllr Deirdre Cullen, based in the Callan-Thomastown area, asserted it's 'time now to just get on with it'.
In 2019, the government committed €1.3 billion towards the delivery of flood relief schemes over the lifetime of the National Development Plan to 2030. Locally, Graignamanagh and Ballyhale were included. However, six years on, no significant action has been taken on the ground.

"Short term measures are needed immediately while communities wait years for these schemes to be completed," she said.
"I was given assurances from 'Boxer' Moran that Kilkenny County Council will be given whatever assistance they need to implement short term measures and to expedite our long promised flood relief schemes.
"Time now to just get on with it!
"The communities of Thomastown, Graignamanagh and Inistioge have had enough," she concluded.
A new weather warning is in place from 4pm today (Tuesday) until midnight next Monday with flooding expected in parts of Kilkenny.
