RIP: Kilkenny GAA club pay tribute to 'integral' former player

Bennettsbridge GAA Club have paid tribute to former club President, player and Kilkenny senior hurler, Liam Cleere who sadly passed away last week.

Mr Cleere was a key figure in a golden era for Bennettsbridge, winning ten Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship titles with his native club.

At inter-county level, he represented Kilkenny with great distinction and was part of the county’s celebrated All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship-winning panel of 1957. - READ MORE HERE

The Bennettsbridge stalwart's funeral mass took place on Tuesday morning.

"Bennettsbridge GAA Club are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of club president Liam Cleere. Alongside his brothers Larry and Seamie, Liam was an integral part of the great Bridge teams of the fifties and sixties," they club said in a statement.

"All at Bennettsbridge GAA extend our deepest sympathy to Iris, Eamonn, Gerry, Mark, Fiona, Fintan and Jenny, brothers Larry and Seamie, sisters Carmel and Margaret, sons- and daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family and friends at this sad time.
