Area Engineer Declan Murphy said a number of Low Cost Safety Schemes are being planned.
At Mount Loftus, works will be carried out to set back a wall which will improve visibility for motorists on the Goresbridge side. This will be “a massive improvement,” Mr Murphy said.
Plans are also being drawn up for work on the R700 junction with the Graignamanagh Road, in Inistioge. Because of a difficulty with site lines, Mr Murphy said he is now looking at installing lights and ramps to slow traffic.
Schemes at Ballyhall and Hoodsgrove are at various stages of planning.
Municipal District chairman, Cllr Joe Lyons, said a lot of work had been covered by Mr Murphy and the council crews.
At the municipal district’s budget meeting, just prior to the usual monthly meeting, Cllr Deirdre Cullen had called for increased funding to the districts.
“I hope that during the year we get a fairer shot at Active Travel funding. We’d like a little bit more of the pie.” Cllr Cullen added that every year more funds are needed for Low Cost Safety Schemes.
